And so Cassius got injured in the field only a week after Calano was gone. We hoped it was just scratches that made a little squeamish horse very lame, but when the worst swelling had decreased, we could see a bulge in the middle of the shank which probably was nota good sign, and indeed X-ray today showed a fracture on the metacarpal. Nothing complicated, everything’s gonna be fine again. It just takes time. So from having two horses going and lots of plans, dreams and goals for the season now the the only horse in the stable I can ride is Corini, who for obvious reasons can not do shows and is not at all close to being in shape for jumping.
Cassius has six very boring week ahead with stable rest. Then comes the rehabilitation and then we are probably nearing the end of september and the season is over. It sure isn’t always easy with alle these horses.
